Kustom Nats 2011

If 2010 wasn't enough Kustom Nats for you here's some 2011:

And finally, SUUS' rig for the day:

Kustom Nats 2010

As the year winds towards its end it's time to celebrate the fact that Kustom Nats 2012 must be fast approaching.  One of the best custom car shows in Australia, commendable for it's diversity and quality, as well as the fact that entrants get the chance to cruise the legendary Phillip Island Racetrack.  Here's some of what SUUS liked in 2010:

And finally, the great Ryan Ford at work on one of SUUS' rides:

Some real nice workmanship here from The Cheater Gang turning a Tudor into a very fine Coupe:

Joe won't like this but I reckon it's one of the nicest modified bugs I've seen.  Shorten the rear overhang, clean up the body rib that appears under the rear vents and I'd happily roll one as a shop truck

For a Good Cause

This isn't strictly a SUUS project, but it's for a good cause so I thought I'd put the word out about it in the hope that some readers may be interested in our story and add a couple of $ to a good cause

In April 2012 one half of SUUS will be setting off with their girlfriend to drive approximately 3500km in 7 days from Melbourne to Cairns to raise money for the Cancer Council. We are not doing this alone, we are one of 150 teams entered in the 2012 Shitbox Rally. Each team will be raising at least $4000 for the Cancer Council before setting off in a vehicle worth less than $1000 including registration.

Being fans of all things old (and perhaps a little mad) we decided we needed something a bit special for our entry.

A 300km round trip on the back of a 5 minute phonecall scored us our beast of burden, a 1960 Vauxhall Victor:

A little reassembly had her looking pretty awesome:

The little old lady who had it before us had some issues remembering to engage the handbrake leading to a good bit of panelwork to do up front, but we decided in the spirit of the rally to remove the filler from previous repairs, beat the panels as straight as we could and leave the scars of battles past as a warning to all that cross the Victor's path:

We are currently looking for sponsors for our entry.  We are very excited to have The Lucky Coq and Vintage Caravan Magazine on board and are looking for other businesses who would like to support the Cancer Council and receive logo space on our car as well as mention in magazine articles and online forums (and here!) in return for their good deed.

Some Salty Love

Admittedly we here at SUUS may have a little bit of a salt lake racer obsession at the moment, but how can you not love this? A truly epic bike in every way:
